The King's Bishop Stakes is a Thoroughbred horse race run annually at the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. The race is open to three-year-olds willing to sprint seven furlongs on dirt. First run in 1984 as a Listed stakes race, since 1999 the race has been a Grade I event, and since 2012 has carried a purse of $500,000. It is the biggest of the year for sprinting three-year-olds, save for the Breeders' Cup Sprint for which it is a major prep. The race is named for King's Bishop, a horse originally owned by Craig F. Cullinan, Jr., founding president of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball club. The race was not run in 1986. ==Records== Speed record: * 1:20.54 - Runhappy (2015) Most wins by a jockey: * 3 - Mike E.
